Ideas for Match reports

Here are some suggestions on the sorts of things to include when putting together a match report :

A bit on the context of the game and the opposition – was it a home game , have we played them before , are they a good team ? Did they have any Sussex players ?

What was the weather like ? (An important talking point for all living in the UK 😉)

Who won the toss ? If we won the toss did we decide to bat or bowl first – and why did we choose to do that?

When we bowled – how did we bowl and field ? Did we take our catches – how difficult were they ? Were there any memorable moments ? Maybe a first wicket for a player ? Did any player take multiple wickets ? Did someone bowl well but unlucky to not get a wicket ?

When we batted – how was their bowling ? Did a player hit fours ? Were there any memorable moments ?

Drinks break – always good to comment on the which biscuits were the best ( the highlight of the day for some players ) and to thank the parents for their efforts arranging the drinks and biscuits

Who won the game ? who were our players of the match and who deserves a mention ? Did the opposition nominate a player of the match on our team ?

How did you find the experience of captaining the team ? What did you find difficult about captaining and what did you learn ? What were the best parts of captaining ? If you were to captain the team again , what would you do differently ? what advice would you give to someone else who is captaining the team for the first time ?
