Honours boards

Congratulations to all the players who made it onto the honours board this week :

Sunday friendly vs Kirdford

Another clear blue sunny Sunday in September saw Kirdford on the green for what was sadly the last cricket match of the season.

Skipper Tom Dawson lost the toss and Wisborough were invited to bat first

Dawson junior and senior strode to the crease and made a meaningful start with some good straight hitting. The 50 partnership came in the 9th over and everything was looking good.

A great yorker from fellow Sussex and Seaford bowler Kenyon saw Ran back in the Pav for 22 . The Green were 56 for 1.

Just as Dawson senior was getting comfortable, he went onto his back foot and missed a straight one. Umpire Klein’s finger went straight up and he was on his way for 26.

Head photographer Chris Marshall came to the crease , and with only with 1 run to his name was also trapped LBW.

Hopes lay with Eddie Ragg but another great ball from Kenyon saw him on his way.

Will Dixon consolidated the innings with some lovely patient cricket and added 23 to the total.

With 5 gone and not even 100 on the board could Ken Vickery save the day ? He took his guard and promptly hit a ball back down the ground almost knocking on his front door. One more boundary before the sticks were sadly parted.

Matt Watts, Mick ‘yes no yes no ‘ Hollands, Zac Dawson and Josh Dixon all unfortunately went quite cheaply and Raff Finn was last man in, playing some superb shots and scoring some great boundaries.

Wisborough were 122 all out.

After tea, Wisborough came out with an attacking field , putting pressure on their opener who hit his wicket in the second over.

Matt Watts then took the second scalp and Will Dixon continued with some decent line and length bowling, a double maiden over and a seam ball wicket in his final over.

In came Josh Dixon and with fantastic dependable bowling took 1 wicket for 6 off 4 with 2 maiden overs.

Eddie Ragg and Ran Dawson continued with some light in swinging and Eddie took a deserved wicket in his fourth with a great diving catch from Ran Dawson at mid on.

Sadly with just too few runs on the board to target , Kirdford accomplished their task in the 29th over with the loss of 6 wickets.

Thanks to the Kirdford players for an enjoyable game played in the true spirit of Sunday cricket.

Many thanks to Chris Marshall for some great pics of the game :
