Wizzy News 24 July 2019

Hi everyone

Welcome to this week’s Wizzy News – our weekly roundup of news and events at Wisborough Green cricket club.

Another great week of cricket to report on with more notable individual performances

Honours boards

Congratulations to all those who made in onto our honours board this week

Presidents Day – Sunday 21st July

A great celebration of cricket at Presidents Day – many thanks to our President Steve Calder Smith and Mrs President Caroline Calder Smith for all their efforts in making it a very memorable event. Thanks also to all the players who brought food and help setup and stay behind to clean up afterwards.

Congratulations to the Presidents X1 who narrowly beat the Chairmans X1 in a well spirited encounter. Who will ever forget that catch of the season by George Nichols to dismiss Stu Rainford, watching former player Ben Thatcher trundle up the hill again, seeing some superb knocks from Tarnie Dixon, Jack Dixon, Charlie Phillips , George Nichols , Joey Calder Smith and Tom Malcolm, and former President John Pleasants rolling back the years to bag those 4 scalps.

Century Club draw

The latest draw  of the Century Club took place at President’s Day and the prize winners were as follows

Ken Vickery                   £250

Trevor Price                   £150

Barry Overington           £80

Lady Parker                    £60

Martin Hopkins             £50

Ruth Migdale                  £35

Ray thanked members of the Century Club for their continued support and urged those who were not yet members to join. He also handed a cheque for £2,500 to the President of the Cricket Club  but stressed that if this level of annual support for the Club is to continue it is necessary to  recruit new members to the Century Club  to   maintain membership at 200 given that for various reasons some are lost each year..

Ray will be sending out the prize winning cheques this week

If you would like to join the Century club please see our website http://www.wisboroughgreencc.co.uk/century-club/ or contact Ray via email address ray.greatorex@outlook.com

Many thanks to Ray for all his efforts in running the Century Club
