Second X1 vs Horley
The seconds made it three 60 pointers on the bounce, as they moved into third in the table with a comprehensive victory over Horley 3s, who had beaten us earlier in the season. Extremely pleasing outcome all round as we fielded, bowled, batted and caught really well, delivering a classy result continuing the momentum gained in the last few games.
Notable performances from:
- Harry Maggs – again doing Harry Maggs things – 5 overs, 1 for 7 (SEVEN). Astonishing.
- Juan Vorster – a brace of catches, a run out, and 4-16 to close the Horley innings.
- Tarni Dixon – back in the runs (44 not out) to guide the side home in style and a belting catch in the in field to remove their dangerous opener.
- SCS – fluent and powerful with the bat and a scorching catch in the deep
- Skipper continued his good form with bat to get 64 letting himself down with a loose shot to get caught on the boundary.
WE talked at the start of the game about the standards we expect from ourselves and each other. These are being realised and improved week in week out. 6 games to go. It’s hotting up…

Under 11 intra club match
The under 11’s had a closely fought intra- club game on Tuesday evening that went right to the wire ..
Match Report from Oliver Johnson (age 11) – Captain of ‘Ollie’s’ team
We batted first, starting with Leo and Freddie, with Leo hitting a four. Following their great start, Quinn and I were up next. After us was Archie and Arnau, with Archie hitting another four. Finally, Bobby and Arthur were up and Bobby smashed an impressive three fours. Their efforts earned us a total of 261 runs.
With a good score on the board, it was time to put our bowling and fielding skills to the test. Freddie took the ball, not only bowling someone out but also catching someone out. I managed to run someone out, adding to our team’s defensive efforts. One of the highlights of the evening came from Bobby, who delivered an incredible hat trick of bowling players out.
As we entered the final pair of batters, the score was very close. Arnau finished his bowling, scoring us another wicket. Leo took the ball last and bowled two out and delivered another run-out.
We fell just short, losing the match by 3 runs. But it was a fantastic evening and everyone played very well!
Oliver Johnson – Captain
Match report by Jack Brazier (age 11) – Captain of ‘Jack’s ‘ team
It was a nice evening for our friendly on Tuesday and I was really pleased to be captain against Ollie’s team.
Ollie won the toss and decided to bat first.
James and Freddie F were bowling first for us and both were really close to getting a wicket.
Theuns and Henry went next, both did really well. One ball resulted in a run out by Buddy.
Eddie and Reuben next who each bowled someone out!
Me and Buddy were last to bowl and we both got wickets. There was also a run out taken by James.
Then we were batting and needed 262 for the win. Me and Reuben were first in and got 3 fours in our pair.
James and Freddie F batting next both hit amazing fours.
Eddie and Theuns also both scored great boundaries with brilliant fours from Theuns in his first match.
Last in were Buddy and Henry with the pressure on. Despite losing some wickets to great bowling, they did really well to score runs and get us to 264 to win on the last bowl.
It was a really close and exciting game. Well done to everyone – especially Buddy who got our player of the match.
Jack Brazier – Captain
Under 10 vs Under 9
Match report by Charlie Baxter (age 10)
On Monday evening the under 10s played a practice match against the 9s. We had a large squad and everyone was excited to play. After winning the toss we decided to bowl first.
Barnaby opened and bowled and caught his own ball off the 1st. Followed by a run out 2nd ball. What a start!
Jack made a lovely catch of Henry’s bowling.
Charlie bowled the 3rd over. Seth made a great catch on the boundary.
Finlay took another wicket in his over which was followed by a great 6 from Edward in the under 9s.
Finlay took another wicket of some excellent bowling.
Alex has a great over too. One catch from George then Barnaby made another catch the very next ball
Charlie made a good catch on the boundary too to stop a definite 4 runs.
The under 9s didn’t lose heart and made a boundary on the last ball.
It was a long session and we took a much needed water break with some yummy biscuits and cup cakes. Thank you parents.
Barnaby and Charlie opened our batting and both hit boundarys including a 6 each to start us off.
All of the pairs batted well and got a great amount of runs with only a few wickets.
There were too many boundarys to mention everyone but I was really impressed with how we have improved.
Thomas and George batted very well getting decent runs. The training is clearly paying off.
Henry and Finlay were the stand out pair for me. Cooper and Gus were the last pair our and finished strong.
I’m not sure what the final score was but the 10s might just have won it 😉.
Well done to the under 9s for showing spirit to the end.
We finished off with another trademark sausage roll across the field.
Charlie Baxter – Captain
