Wizzy News 3 May 2017

Hi Everyone Welcome to the first edition of Wizzy News for the season. For those who are new to the club a very special warm welcome. Every week we send out news and information about what’s going on at the cricket club and the local community  – so if there is anything we need to know please send it over to us via email (that includes pictures). We can’t include everything every week, but please don’t let that stop you sending in whatever you can. Regular readers will know that we poke fun at many things – particularly ourselves – so feel privileged if you are important enough to have something directed at you ! Message from our Chairman – Steve Calder Smith  Please click on the link below for a message from our Chairman , Steve Calder Smith. http://wp.me/P8ztSF-5o1   Cricket this weekend  All our teams are in action this week – please see attached fixture card for a list of our fixtures – and our website www.wisboroughgreencc.co.uk for more details. Good luck lads. http://wp.me/P8ztSF-5o3 FunRun RunWisborough 7th May 2017 Following last year’s fantastic event, the run returns this year with the same aim of raising money for the new sport’s pavilion.  About 500 runners are expected this year and while no roads will have to close, there will naturally be an impact on movement around the village.  There will be plenty of marshals to look after everyone’s safety during the run which starts at 10.30 and will be complete by 12.00.  This year’s route is slightly different to last year and the roads affected are Wyatt’s Close, Butt’s Meadow, Carter’s Way, The Luth, Kirdford Road, Durbans Road, Newpound Lane and School Lane.  The full route can be seen on the website www.runwisborough.co.uk. As well as the 5k and 10k runs there will be a kid’s colour run for children aged from 4 to 10.  This will involve biodegradable paint and one or two laps around the Green organised by the Wisborough Green Scouts and sponsored by Fisher’s Farm.  There will be plenty of food and refreshments for runners and spectators alike and everyone is encouraged to come along to see what’s happening! We really hope we can replicate the success of the inaugural event this year so fingers crossed the weather is as good.  Support along the route really helps add to the atmosphere so please feel free to cheer people on from your front gardens if you can’t get to the Green!  Finally, if you’re not running (there’s still time to enter!), but can help on the day please drop Michael Gadd a line at info@runwisborough.co.uk or call him on tel 01403  700 727.   Looking after the Green  You may have noticed that there are sections of the Green that are under repair. We would appreciate it very much if everyone (particularly children)  could steer clear of the areas affected to give the grass every chance of recovering quickly. Other News  To all the Star Wars fans out there – May the Fourth be with you !   That’s it for this week – if there is anything we should know – you know where to find us. Here’s to a great cricketing season and have a great cricketing week. Let the season begin Cheers Wizzy
