A rain interrupted weekend of cricket with our senior teams and under 12’s in action – news of the games below

Match Highlights

First X1 vs Billingshurst

  • Rain ends close encounter against local rivals
  • Billingshurst win the toss and elect to bat
  • Green limit Billi to 162 for 7
  • Former keeper DJ Dominique the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 22
  • Junior Rainford and Talcs claim the other wickets
  • Early wickets fall in Green innings
  • Talcs continues good form with the bat and ends on 33 no
  • Rain brings the game to an abrupt end with only 21 overs being bowled and 3 wickets down
  • Complex Duckworth Lewis calculations and league rules determine Billi the victors in cruel outcome to the game
  • Skipper Farmer calls on troops to enjoy the week off and re-energise for the game against Barns Green in 2 weeks time

Second X1 vs Pullborough

  • Pullborough win the toss and elect to field
  • Green opening batsmen struggle on very average batting strip
  • 3 wickets fall early with only 12 runs on the board
  • Tarnie Dixon and Steve Calder Smith stabilise the innings and play some attractive shots against a good bowling attack
  • Tarnie top scores with 27
  • Green set oppo target of 110 to win
  • Oppo wickets fall but opener Smillie keeps the scoreboard ticking
  • Dropped catches cost Green dearly
  • Joey Calder Smith shines with the ball and sends bails flying over 40 yards
  • Oppo reach target with 5 wickets down in 22nd over
  • Disappointing day on a difficult wicket in a rain affected game
  • Team looks forward to a week’s break to recharge the batteries.

Under 12 vs Steyning

  • WGU12 remain undefeated in exciting game at Steyning
  • Steyning win the toss and elect to field
  • Strong opening partnerships with some explosive shot making from Ran Dawson (32 runs, retired), Will Dixon (22 runs) and Issac Paisley (17 runs) create a strong platform
  • Sensible batting from Zac Dawson and Fraser Williams finally leave WG on 129 for 4 after 20.
  • Umpires and scorers have a stand off as the teams are brought off prematurely after 19 overs
  • A solid bowling and fielding performance from all restrict Steyning.  Charlie Burchell ends up with 2 wickets for 3 off 2 overs.
  • William Green forces a run out with a direct hit
  • Great performance from Fraser Williams behind the stumps with only 2 byes and some impressive takes on the leg side.
  • Steyning finish with 103 for 7 after their 20.
  • Another great all-round performance with every member of the team contributing.
