• Hugo March and Leon Kilford take 2 wickets a piece.
• Wisborough struggle with the bat with only Jacob Ball and Jack Dixon getting into double figures
• Felbridge and Sunnyside’s Spearman and Dixon take 7 wickets between them to finish off the game

If there is anything we should know – you know where to find us #upTheGreen Cheers Wizzy   Match reports Firsts vs Ram Wisborough were back at home and in the mood to bounce back after two disappointing defeats. Ram were the visitors and Wisborough knew they were in for a tough battle. Being the Euro’s it was decided that a game of Football would be the pre-match warm up. Le Saux (Calder-Smith) was spraying balls all over the green and Heskey (Farmer) was scoring for fun. Shame that Ken Wilshere Vickery and Theo Doddy Wallcott could only watch and learn from the sidelines. Meanwhile Napper won the toss and elected to bowl. Having racked up an impressive 350 against Arundel, Wisborough knew that Ram would come out firing on all cylinders. Line and length and taking our changes as they presented themselves would be key. Ram got off to a flyer and as predicted were throwing everything at the ball. They raced to 34 off the first 4 overs before Napper clean bowled the opener. Thatcher then got in on the act in the next over with a smart catch from Doddy at first slip. Patel carried on playing his shots and tried to work one to leg which flew to Scotty at second slip who grabbed a fine catch.  Hersh Tank,  the overseas player from Mumbai, and clearly the danger man arrived at the crease. Tank by name and tank by nature started to play and score freely. Wisborough tried to keep him off strike , chipping away at the other end with Thatcher clean bowling Patel (mark 2) and finally Patel (numero tres). With the score  on 97-5 and Tank looking to be in full flow, Farmer and Dodd were brought into the attack. Doddy struck after Tank made his fifty and tried to go big only to find Doug cool as a cat Safe Hands Cox on the boundary in-between two trees. Ram soon realised that their chances of reaching 200 were fading . Farmer couldn’t find his areas and it was left to Doddy, who having come out of retirement, would go on to claim his first 5fer of the season. Napper then took what he described as the best catch ever seen in Wisborough Green, although some may argue that it wasnt as important as the catch that dismissed the Tank. Ram’s innings finally ended with a gettable 148 all out. Wisborough had a good feed and the new opening partnership of Jack Carter and Hoppo arrived at the crease.  Tank was switched on and revved up , and again proved why importing players can sometimes be questionable at this level. Tank was hooping it both ways, but Carter and Hoppo stuck at it. 30 became 50, 50 became,70 and before long a fantastic 100 partnership was on the board without loss.  The batsmen certainly rode their luck at times and took full advantage of every opportunity offered to them. Hoppo fell first with a solid 39 and a first wicket partnership of 122 was on the board , which is most certainly one of the best opening stands for the Wis in a good few years. Jack and Byron saw the game home and it was Jack, who was told many times by the oppo that he only had ‘one shot’ , played that clip off his legs oh so well for the victory. Wis are now 2nd in the league having fought back from being second from bottom. Its now a nice two weeks off. Great stuff lads.   Seconds Match report –Wisborough Green 2nd X1 V Chichester 3rd X1 On an overcast day, Wisborough travelled to Arundel to play Chichester with a very young team, which included 4 under 14’s. Chichester won the toss and decided to bat, and soon started scoring boundaries with a really small outfield. Some good early bowling from Nick Payne (9 overs 0 for 56) and Luca Cocoracchio (8 overs 0 for 59) managed to peg the opposition back to 70 off the first 15 overs. Wizzy were light on bowling and Jacob Ball who usually keeps wicket was asked to bowl. After having 9 runs taken off his first over Jacob bowled superbly to end with figures of 1 for 34 off 7 overs.  Great effort. Chichester were in no mood to stop scoring and smashed 135 off the last 12 overs. Tom Colbran bowled well and took 3 wickets (3 for 69 off 9 overs) , and Frank Vickery also contributed (1 for 61 off 7 overs) . Some poor fielding allowed Chichester to score 30 more runs than they should have, finishing on 289 for 5. A rather tall order for the Wizzy batsmen to chase. Tim McMath and Frank Vickery set about the task well, before McMath was out for 12. Ricky Etheridge batted well for 25, before a needless run out. Frank and Gary Harwin moved the total on before Frank was out for 35. Sadler then came to the crease and batted solidly with Gary to move the total past 200 with 9 overs to go and 289 within reach. Gary was very unluckily to be judged out LBW down the legside by their umpire, for a well played 63. The momentum swang back to Chichester. Sadler was joined by Dave Cocoracchio and the score continued to tick over until Sadler was out caught on the boundary for 59. The pressure built with Wizzy needing 48 off 5 overs with Jacob Ball and Dave at the crease. Both smashed the ball all over the park with Dave falling for 14. In came Tom Colbran (known as 12 MPH) who hit 2 sixes and Jacob 2 fours to bring the game to a fantastic climax.  They unfortunately ran out of overs finishing 5 runs short of target with Jacob finishing on 18 and Tom on 19. A great game, and 2 key learning points : 1) When you are getting smashed as a bowler you need to bowl 1 side of the wicket. It is difficult to set a field when you bowl both sides 2) We can chase any total if we stay calm and try not to smash every ball. Small 5 over targets.
