Remembering Timbo

We were very saddened to hear of the passing of our former cricket Captain Tim Monday during the match between West Chiltington and Middleton on Saturday afternoon from what is believed to be a heart condition
.

Tim helped the club secure County League status and was a well loved and respected captain. He left Wisborough to play cricket with his son Jack at West Chiltington but always kept in close contact with our club.

A large contingent of Wisborough Green players attended a get together at West Chiltington on Monday evening. Shortly after the President of the West Chiltington Cricket club started paying tribute to Tim, a black Labrador took centre stage carrying a can of Fosters and proceeded to wrestle with the can – eventually puncturing it with beer spraying in all directions. It was almost as if Tim had planned it all and was looking down on us with his trademark mischievous grin and having a laugh – as only he could. That was the Tim Monday we all knew and loved in a nutshell.

We have arranged a fixture between West Chiltington and Wisborough Green in his memory on the Sunday closest to his birthday – 24 June 2018. The fixture will be known as the ‘Tim Monday Cup’ and will an an annual event.

Here are some of the memories we shared with Tim
